Distinguished and Famous people from Corryong
Jack Riley
Irish-born stockman Jack Riley worked at Tom Groggin in the mountains from the 1880s, visiting Corryong for supplies and becoming part of its high-country history. His reputation as a horseman helped establish the tradition that he inspired The Man from Snowy River, although that identification remains a matter of legend rather than settled fact. Corryong’s museum preserves his story and belongings; he was buried in the town in 1914.
